[PVE] Gearing Up Your New Shadow Priest

Javaed posted on September 07, 2009

So, you've been leveling your Shadow Priest, and you've just hit level 80.  Now you're eager to start running raids, but obviously you've got to gear up.  Well, you're in luck.  I'm providing you with a quick reference on some of the easiet gear to gather quickly.

Your First Stop - Trial of the Champions

The first place to start gearing up is Trial of the Champions, the newest 5-man instance.  This is a normal instance, meaning you can run it as many times a day as you have time for.  However, all the loot in here is Item Level 200 Epic gear, that's gear of the same quality as Naxx 10 gear.  Since you can repeat this instance, with a few good frends you should be able to get everything on this list in a day:

  • Brilliant Hailstone Amulet
  • Belt of the Churning Blaze
  • Bindings of the Wicked
  • Handwraps of Sundered Hope
  • Leggings of the Haggard Apprentice
  • Mantle of Inconsolable Fear
  • The Confessor's Binding
  • Signet of Purity
  • Abyssal Rune

Wow that's a lot of loot.  Take a good look at everything there, it's very well itemized gear, and it's worth grabbing every piece in one night, if you can.  Now, let's move on to the next stop:

Heroic Trial of the Champions

Now, if you're really new, you're going to want to want some decently geared friends and guild mates to help you out here.  This Heroic is a bit tougher than the rest of the heroics, and a really under geared group might have problems.  Also remember, you're going to be collecting Emblems of Conquest while doing this heroic, but I'll cover Emblem gear later.  As with all heroics, you can only run this once a day.  It's a really fast Heroic though, so I'd focus on running this one each day until you've got some decent gear.  Now for the loot:

  • Kurisu's Indecision
  • Boots of the Crackling Flame
  • Gaze of the Unknown
  • Spectral Kris
  • Sinner's Confession

And there you go.  There's a few other drops in ToC you might want to grab, but they're really better itemized for healers than DPS.  Now, this list lacks some loot options, including a second trinket and an Off-Hand.  Unfortunately, you're going to need to do some raiding for the best options, but here's a few options to look for with Emblems.  Note: You get Emblems of Heroism and Valor by exchanging Emblems of Conquest.  You get Emblems of Triumph by doing the Heroic Dailly (run this each day) or from the Trial of the Crusador raid.

Emblems of Heroism

  • Ward of the Violet Citadel - 25 Emblems
  • Handbook of Obscure Remedies - 25 Emblems
  • Sundial of the Exiled - 40 Emblems

Emblems of Valor

  • Xintor's Expeditionary Boots - 40 Emblems
  • Band of Channeled Magic - 25 Embelms

Emblems of Conquest

  • Evoker's Charm - 19 Emblems
  • Sash of Potent Incantations - 28 Emblems
  • Touch of the Occult - 28 Emblems
  • Crown of the Wayward Conqueror (Priest T8) - 58 Emblems
  • Breastplate of the Wayward Conqueror (Priest T8) - 58 Emblems

Emblems of Triumph - You can get the entire T9 set of gear with these emblems.  Each piece costs either 30 emblems or 50 emblems.  My recommendation would be to grab the Shoulders first.

When listing the emblems, I believe you meant Emblems of Valor instead of Emblems of Triumph.

It is pretty astonishing that there is so much loot for casters when it comes to the new Dungeon. Especially that it is possible to assemble everything within a few hours, if lucky.
