Yes I know I haven't posted in some time. My work schedule has gotten a bit crazy lately, and I'm finding it hard to make time to even attend my raids, let alone post. Plus, I didn't really feel like making a post about the Priest Class Previews, as they weren't very specific.
Luckily, MMO Champ has released a huge dump in the past 24 hours, and we've got some really cool information. It looks like we've got enough information to start piecing together exactly how our Mastery is going to work, so I'm going to try to summarize the info that's out there for you.
Shadow Priest Mastery Bonuses:
First Bonus - All Spell Damage increased by a %
Second Bonus - Spell critical strike chance increased by a %
Shadow Orbs - Really Really Cool =)

I'm going to delay posting my thoughts on the Cataclysm Priest previews. Overall, I think the information is exciting, but too barebones to really go into detail about at the moment. For the most part I like the direction we seem to be moving in, so I don't really have anything to complain about anyway.
Instead, I'm going to take a moment to really explain the new system being implemented for DoTs and HoTs come Cataclysm. Now, I'm not taking credit for the new system as I'm sure it's something Blizzard has discussed several times, but back in August I posted on my blog and the Blizzard forums, describing a method by which I thought Blizzard should implement Haste scaling for DoTs. It just so happens that the new system and the one I've previously described are pretty much exactly alike. Since I've seen a ton of confusion on the WoW forums about how this system will work, and since I just so happen to know how it'll work pretty well, I wanted to try to clear up some of the confussion out there.

Well, some initial information has been released on Cataclysm's dispell mechanics, mostly from the perspective on how the changes will affect Healers. Basically, there are going to be 5 types of "dispellables". Diseases, Poisons, Curses, Defensive Magic and Offensive Magic. Each healer will be able to remove three types of the bonuses. The mana cost of dispell abilities will rise significantly, and all "no thought" mechanics are being removed.
What this means for priests is that 1) we don't get any new types of dispell ability, 2) Abolish Disease is going to be removed from the game and 3) Shadow Priests will be dropped out of Shadow Form when we cast Cure Disease.

Well, we're finally getting details on 3.3 gear drops, and much of it looks very nice. It's a bit early yet, and stats on items *may* change, but I figured I'd do a quick write-up on gear to start picking up when the patch hits. This will be especially helpful for new members of the priesthood, but hopefully this will help those of you who've had rotten luck on a couple gear slots (like I have).
